E&I Maintenance Leader

This position will serve as the people leader and technical expert for the Electrical and Instrumentation (E/I) Maintenance Department. This role will have accountability of leading the E/I Maintenance team in execution of daily and turnaround and E/I maintenance at the facility in a safe manner that achieves quality excellence.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensures safety and environmental performance of E/I team and contractors in all aspects of work process including implementation of safety programs which comply with regulatory requirements (NFPA 70E, NEC, PSM/ISA84, and OSHA)
  • Leads people, sets and communicates expectations clearly, develops skills and ensures performance the implementation of action items: KMS, safety reviews, audits, housekeeping inspections and other sources as required
  • Owns and drives reliability work practices within the group including demonstrating and utilizing RCA/5-Why Analysis, PdMtechnologies and precision maintenance
  • Leads and advances the E/I organization toward proactive maintenance culture, including predictive, preventative, and corrective electrical maintenance to improve assets effectiveness and optimize costs
  • Supervises the installation, maintenance, repair, and testing of a wide range of electrical & instrument equipment such as motors, starters, MCC's, control panels, pressure/flow/temperature instruments, control valves, PLCs, and safety instrument systems (SIS)
  • Coordinates and is responsible for the E/I department's business plans and budget to align to site goals
  • Conducts regular reviews of results with E/I team to include a discussion of performance against these goals and opportunities to improve
  • Partners with operating areas to provide appropriate resources, and support to ensure process and equipment optimization
  • Performs Technical Resource function by following jobs in the area and conducting job/permit inspections and audits
  • Reviews and ensures accuracy of department procedures and equipment documentation. Ensures consistency/alignment of procedures with plant procedures and policies
  • Ensures that appropriate resources, necessary tools, and equipment are available for employees to perform their functions.
  • Establishes, maintains and administers processes that ensure equitable technician resource leveling, overtime allocation, vacation practices and labor cost control. Manages non-exempt payroll approval process of E/I team
  • Develops and communicates clearly defined roles, responsibilities, standards, and expectations for direct reports and ensure performance through leadership, coaching, development and effective use of performance feedback processes
  • Leads in developing and maintaining a healthy pipeline of A2E projects and initiatives by ensuring that there is robust list of projects to deliver on Safety, Quality and Productivity goals

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering preferred
  • Minimum of 7-10 years' experience in Chemical or Petrochemical Manufacturing with 2 years in leadership preferred
  • Six Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing processes desired
  • Certified CMRP (Maintenance and Reliability Professional) is a plus

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

  • Demonstrated knowledge of maintenance work process and maintenance best practices
  • Demonstrated experience in Six Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing processes fundamentals
  • Demonstrated and proactive leadership and team building skills with the ability to work effectively throughout the organization in a fast paced environment
  • Demonstrated ownership and drive to improve existing systems and processes
  • Problem solving, conflict resolution, facilitation and prioritizing skills
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Moderate to advance computer skills including Microsoft Office products, SAP, and LIMS
  • Demonstrated and strong root cause analytical and corrective action skills a plus

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Ability to meet physical requirements of an industrial setting including working in extreme temperatures, climbing, use of ladders, walking, sitting, standing, bending, etc. as may be required

  • Use of hands to fingers
  • Good hand/eye coordination an dexterity
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs on a periodic basis
  • Tolerant of working at heights
