THE OPPORTUNITY:
As part of a reinforced Health, Safety & Environment strategy, our client is seeking an HSE Engineer with a strong environmental focus, combined with a solid on-site presence in safety matters.
The role is based at a highly regulated industrial site classified as Seveso site classification, presenting significant environmental challenges-particularly in wastewater management and the operation of an on-site wastewater treatment plant.
This position is well suited to a professional who can balance technical expertise, practical field engagement, and clear, credible communication with operational teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Environmental Management (Primary Focus)
- Take ownership of the site's environmental topics, with particular emphasis on wastewater management and treatment plant operations
- Ensure full compliance with environmental regulations related to water, waste, emissions, and discharges
- Identify, propose, and implement improvement initiatives to reduce environmental impact
- Contribute to environmental investment projects and optimization initiatives
Safety & Field-Based HSE Activities
- Maintain a strong on-site presence to promote a pragmatic and effective safety culture
- Participate in risk assessments and HSE studies (DUERP, risk analyses, etc.)
- Lead and coordinate HSE incident investigations, including root cause analysis and follow-up of corrective actions
- Deliver training, awareness sessions, and clear safety communications to operational teams
Support, Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Support the HSE Manager in deploying and maintaining the site's HSE policy
- Contribute to internal and external HSE reporting
- Draft, review, and update HSE procedures, work instructions, and emergency response plans
- Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives across the site
CANDIDATE PROFILE:
- Master's degree or Engineering degree (Bac+5 equivalent) in HSE, industrial environment, risk management, or similar
- Proven experience in an industrial environment, ideally within a Seveso-classified site
- Strong interest in environmental topics, particularly water, wastewater, environmental impacts, and regulatory compliance
- Solid understanding of industrial and chemical risks and risk analysis methodologies (HAZOP, FMEA/AMDEC)
- Hands-on, field-oriented profile with the ability to engage operational teams and translate technical topics into practical actions
- Autonomous, analytical, curious, and accountable mindset
