Procurement Specialist
We have partnered with a Fortune 500 chemical manufacturing business located within Galveston County. The Procurement Specialist role is chartered to deliver positive results to the business and its' stakeholders by: evaluating the supply base to select suppliers to achieve lowest total cost of ownership; administer contracts that eliminate potential risks & liabilities to the Company; meeting internal customer requirements by providing the right material/service at the right time to facilitate plant safety & reliability.
Responsibilities
- Deputize for Procurement Manager when necessary
- Commercial management of key Site agreements.
- Network with the global procurement organization and other business units to maximize volume leverage.
- Ensure that security of supply for goods and services are maintained safely, to the correct technical specification and on schedule to meet operational requirements.
- Provide expert advice on procurement related risks, including in depth market knowledge both commercial and technical to all procurement customers.
- Lead negotiations with suppliers to secure best commercial terms for the business.
- Identify and recommend new suppliers to the businesses that can offer a commercial or technical advantage to mitigate project or asset schedule risks.
Requirements
- Level of Education & Knowledge:
- BS or BA Undergraduate Degree Supply Chain or Business Management
- Requires a minimum of 10 - 12 years of experience.
- Experience in positions requiring knowledge of Procurement and Supply Chain.
- Experience in a petrochemical, refining and/or manufacturing environment in a Technical or Business position is required.
- Experience with SAP Materials Management Module - requires a minimum of 5-7 years.
- CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional) certification preferred.
