Technical Production Manager


The Technical Production Manager plays a key role in bringing engineered designs into reality. Their expertise and focus are on fabrication, using practical solutions to design challenges across mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems. They are responsible for reviewing final hardware concepts, coordinating shop-floor execution, and ensuring that production meets performance, quality, and safety standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Translate final engineering designs into actionable production steps, coordinating closely with engineering and fabrication teams.
  • Recommend and implement design modifications based on manufacturability, tooling constraints, or real-world build conditions.
  • Working knowledge of Autodesk Inventor.
  • Apply working knowledge of mechanical systems to troubleshoot and resolve issues during production and installation phases. This role requires a hands-on-approach.
  • Supervise and support on-site and in-shop execution of services, including builds, installations, and maintenance.
  • Ensure all workshop activities follow safety protocols
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to align build execution with project goals. Building within time expectations and cost efficiency are key deliverables.
  • Manage workshop team
  • Offer hands-on technical support and guidance during installations.
  • Direct and mentor shop and installation crews on design intent, build methods, and quality standards.
  • Interface with fabricators and suppliers to resolve production or scheduling challenges.
  • Manage documentation and parts orders related to builds, revisions, and installation procedures.
  • Assist the group/project manager with logistical planning, order processing, job scheduling, and estimating.
  • Communicate clearly and consistently with clients to relay technical information, incorporate feedback, and maintain alignment.
  • Manage inventory using ERP system
  • Carry out additional duties and support activities as assigned by leadership.

Experience

  • 5+ years in relevant industry technology development
  • 2-5+ years in relevant processing industries
  • 2+ years in technical leadership role
  • Acumen in best practice and innovation technologies
  • Experience with 3D modelling is also preferred (Autodesk Inventor is the software we use).

  • Strong skills in reading and interpreting technical drawings and 3D models (Autodesk Inventor specifically, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.).
  • Familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
