Purpose of the Job:
The Water Technical Expert is responsible for providing high-level technical support on water treatment applications, ensuring tailored, timely, and cost-effective solutions for internal and external stakeholders. Solutions include activated carbon, ion exchange resins and mobile filtration units.
The role supports commercial success by combining deep expertise in water treatment processes, regulatory compliance, and product performance, while also contributing to innovation, knowledge sharing, and market intelligence.
He will be responsible principally within the geographical territories served by the Vierzon operations (i.e. primarily France, but also Iberia, French-speaking Switzerland, Belgium and Luxembourg:
Supervisory Responsibilities:
While the role does not include formal supervisory authority, it carries significant technical leadership and coordination responsibilities, requiring the ability to influence, guide, and collaborate across various teams and stakeholders both internally and externally.
Job Roles / Duties: (All Activities Including Day to Day Tasks)
- Technical Support Responsibilities
- Understand customer needs and technical requests
- Search and analyse technical data to respond appropriately
- Launch technical studies or investigations when required
- Request the creation of new product specifications if needed
- Contribute to the drafting of technical bulletins
- Provide structured, well-argued technical responses within required deadlines
- Present and explain technical solutions to internal and external stakeholders
- Recommend optimal product choice and usage (performance, lifespan, hydraulics, troubleshooting)
- Ensure response delivery within 24 hours whenever possible
- Translate customer requirements into technical product/service characteristics
- Define and validate product quality/performance criteria and testing needs
- Evaluate product/service feasibility in terms of production, supply chain, and cost
- Respond to tenders and collaborate on technical proposal writing
- Interpret and synthesize technical data from studies, publications, and customer feedback.
- Maintain up-to-date internal knowledge and share with relevant teams
- Conduct technical training for other departments (e.g. onboarding, new products)
- Ensure product compliance with relevant regulations
- Manage technical projects in collaboration with external institutions (e.g. CNRS, universities
- Participate in and gather insights from technical exhibitions and trade shows
- Marketing & Market Intelligence
- Contribute to writing and distributing technical product documentation (e.g. data sheets, usage guides)
- Conduct regulatory monitoring (e.g. water quality standards, activated carbon use)
- Monitor competitors and market developments in the water sector
- Quality & Compliance
- Apply internal Quality procedures to job-related operations
- Monitor service performance indicators
- Participate in the technical resolution of customer complaints
- Identify and report occupational hazards and unsafe conditions
- Customer & Cross-functional Collaboration
- Accompany sales teams on important customer visits to support sales processes
- Participate in internal meetings across departments (sales, supply, production, quality, etc.)
- Attend industry forums, trade shows, and submit proposals for presentations or posters
- Communication & Knowledge Sharing
- Ensure effective oral and written communication (internally and externally)
- Promote cross-functional collaboration in a matrix, multinational environment
- Share expertise and best practices across teams
- Demonstrate ability to simplify and convey complex technical information
- Other Required Comptencies
- Possess an engineering degree in chemistry or water treatment
- Expertise in water treatment processes and water quality parameters
- Knowledge of potable water regulation, market stakeholders, and public procurement
- Awareness of industrial water uses
- Understanding of activated carbon technologies
- Multidisciplinary knowledge (chemistry, biology, analytics, sales)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
- Fluency in French and English (written/spoken/read - technical and commercial)
- Intermediate knowledge of Spanish (written/spoken/read - technical and commercial)

Education:
Engineering Degree from a recognized institution, preferably with specialization in Chemistry or Water Treatment.
Experience:
A sound understanding of water treatment processes used at municipal and industrial type settings, with particular relevance to activated carbon and ion exchange resins. Provision of technical support in any role is an advantage, but not essential as full training will be provided. Evidence of communication of technical arguments, design and trouble-shooting is invaluable in the assessment of a suitable candidate. Operational experience whether day-to-day duties, commissioning or remedial solutions is relevant.
