Position Overview
Reporting directly to the Operations leadership team, the Continuous Improvement Engineer will lead initiatives that enhance quality, performance, and customer satisfaction while driving a culture of continuous improvement.
This role requires ownership of detailed planning and execution of improvement projects, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, cost, and delivery objectives. The engineer will also serve as a subject matter expert, partnering with cross-functional teams to align initiatives with organizational goals, manage risks, and deliver measurable results.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead cross-functional projects to achieve performance, quality, schedule, and cost objectives.
- Plan, prioritize, schedule, and track assigned initiatives independently.
- Collaborate with teams across engineering, sourcing, reliability, manufacturing, and suppliers to translate customer requirements into effective product specifications.
- Apply Lean Six Sigma tools, root-cause analysis, and process controls to maintain and improve product quality and cost.
- Monitor programs against milestones, identify risk areas, and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Conduct time studies, analyze labor utilization, and improve data collection on delays and downtime.
- Mentor operations staff in continuous improvement practices to instill a sustainable improvement culture.
- Develop detailed project schedules and resource plans to ensure successful execution of improvement initiatives.
Required Skills & Abilities
- Proven application of Lean methodologies: time studies, DMAIC, 5S, Control Charts, Kanban, Standard Work, and waste reduction practices.
- Strong communicator with the ability to articulate future-state visions, provide direction, and drive organizational change.
- 3+ years' leadership experience in project management and cross-functional facilitation within manufacturing or process improvement.
- Knowledge of key business financial metrics and ability to apply data analytics to track, monitor, and exceed performance targets.
- Demonstrated success in managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline (required).
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification (preferred).
