Geotechnical Engineer


About the Role
A leading global producer of essential agricultural nutrients is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to support operations across large-scale industrial facilities. The organization operates internationally, supporting agricultural production through integrated mining and processing operations.

Work Location: Onsite (Bartow, Florida)

Position Summary

The Engineer I/II/III provides civil and geotechnical engineering support to Operations and Environmental teams across all aspects of gypsum disposal systems, including dike construction, maintenance, inspections, and process water management. This role also supports and may directly manage gypsum stack construction and closure engineering activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for daily operations related to gypsum stack systems, including disposal activities and water management.
  • Review and advise on dike construction and overall stack management; proactively identify risks and recommend solutions.
  • Support development and maintenance of short- and long-term gypsum disposal plans aligned with operational and capital planning needs.
  • Coordinate surveying and testing programs to monitor gypsum and water inventories; communicate findings and ensure timely resolution of issues.
  • Participate in front-end design for gypsum stack expansion and closure projects; may include project management responsibilities.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable state and federal regulations governing gypsum management and environmental standards.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Environmental teams to ensure adherence to permit requirements and groundwater monitoring plans.
  • Partner with water balance engineering resources on projections, modeling, and system calibrations.
  • Perform additional civil engineering duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Mining, or related Engineering discipline required
  • Experience in surface mining or heavy construction, with exposure to environmental compliance, safety, and stormwater management
  • Demonstrated engineering design and problem-solving experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with plant operations software preferred
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred

Experience Requirements

Engineer II

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in manufacturing, engineering, or operations roles

Engineer III

  • Minimum 4+ years of experience in manufacturing, engineering, or operations roles
  • Phosphate industry experience preferred
  • Ability to complete complex assignments with minimal supervision

Senior Engineer

  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in manufacturing, engineering, or operations roles
  • Phosphate industry experience preferred
  • Proven ability to lead major projects and independently develop solutions and recommendations
