Project Engineer - Major Capital Projects (Canada)

Contract Type: Long-term Contract
Duration: Immediate start through at least December 2027

About the Company

Our client is a global industrial organisation investing heavily in major capital programmes across North America.

As part of continued project growth, they are looking to appoint a Project Engineer who will work alongside experienced Project Managers and Engineering Managers, gaining exposure to the full lifecycle of complex industrial projects.

This role has been designed as a long-term development opportunity for an ambitious engineer looking to progress into Project Management.

The Opportunity

Working within the owner's project team, you will provide technical and project support across multiple capital projects, coordinating engineering activities, assisting with project controls and acting as a key interface between engineering, construction and project management functions.

You will receive ongoing mentoring and development with the aim of progressing into a Project Management position as projects evolve.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Project Managers with the delivery of major capital projects.
  • Coordinate engineering deliverables and project documentation.
  • Liaise with Engineering Service Providers and internal stakeholders.
  • Assist with project planning, reporting and progress tracking.
  • Support project risk management and change control.
  • Attend project meetings and contribute to technical decision making.
  • Monitor engineering progress against project schedules.
  • Gain exposure to all stages of project delivery from planning through execution.

Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Chemical or Process Engineering.
  • Approximately 3-6 years' experience within industrial engineering or capital projects.
  • Exposure to heavy industrial environments such as:
    • Metals
    • Aluminium
    • Steel
    • Mining
    • Petrochemical
    • Power Generation
    • Large manufacturing facilities
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work within multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Desire to develop into a Project Manager over the coming years.

Desirable

  • Experience working with EPC contractors or Engineering Service Providers.
  • Exposure to Front-End Loading (FEL) project delivery.
  • French language skills.
