A leading global industrial organization is seeking a Project Engineer / Project Manager to oversee capital projects supporting operational infrastructure. This role involves managing projects from initiation through completion, including engineering design, construction, and commissioning.
The position will support multiple operational sites and requires collaboration with internal engineering teams, environmental specialists, and external contractors.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage full lifecycle of capital projects, including scope, schedule, budget, safety, quality, and contractor performance
- Lead project execution from concept through design, construction, start-up, and close-out using established project management processes
- Develop and manage engineering work packages and coordinate with external engineering firms
- Review and approve engineering deliverables to ensure compliance with project requirements
- Prepare and present project status reports to leadership
- Collaborate with procurement teams to:
- Develop scopes of work
- Issue RFQs/RFPs
- Evaluate bids and select contractors
- Lead contractor and vendor coordination, including pre-bid meetings and contract oversight
- Ensure adherence to safety standards and promote a strong safety culture
- Define deliverables, milestones, and expectations for design and construction services
- Oversee design and construction contracts to ensure alignment with quality, cost, and schedule targets
Project Scope Includes
- Earthwork and embankment construction
- Water management systems (e.g., drainage, conveyance, treatment systems)
- Infrastructure crossings and utility corridors
- Geotechnical and environmental systems
- Site expansions and regulatory-driven projects
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil or Geotechnical preferred)
- Experience working with engineering contractors and consulting firms
- Knowledge of project funding and approval processes
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with project scheduling tools (e.g., Primavera P6 or equivalent)
- Familiarity with enterprise systems (e.g., ERP or asset management software)
- Professional certification in project management (e.g., PMP)
- Exposure to geotechnical or environmental engineering projects
