Role Purpose

Implement quality assurance and quality control for civil, structural and architectural base-building work on a major data center project. The role verifies that materials, installation, testing and records comply with approved drawings, specifications, codes, ITPs and contract requirements, ensuring deficiencies are identified early and closed with objective evidence before turnover or concealment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and implement CSA quality requirements, ITPs, inspection checklists and acceptance criteria.
  • Perform and coordinate inspections, surveillance and testing for assigned civil, structural and architectural work.
  • Verify material approvals, traceability, testing reports, special inspections and as-built quality records.
  • Raise, track and verify closure of deficiencies, punch items, NCRs and corrective actions.
  • Report CSA quality status, trends, constraints and turnover readiness to the Project Quality Lead.
  • Review drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, shop drawings and approved changes before inspection activities.
  • Coordinate pre-installation meetings and confirm approved methods, mock-ups, benchmarks and first-work inspections.
  • Inspect earthwork, underground utilities, concrete, reinforcement, embeds, structural steel, welding, bolting, fireproofing, roofing, envelope and assigned architectural base-building work.
  • Coordinate soils, concrete, welding, bolt, coating, envelope and other third-party testing or special inspections.
  • Verify survey, embed, penetration, interface and tolerance controls before concealment or follow-on work.
  • Confirm material certificates, delivery condition, storage, preservation and traceability.
  • Review inspection and test records for completeness, accuracy, sign-off and linkage to location/system turnover packages.
  • Document nonconforming work, support disposition review, verify repairs/rework and assess recurring trends.
  • Coordinate quality release and handover interfaces with AFO, MEP, Construction and Commissioning.
  • Participate in audits, lessons learned, quality walks and subcontractor performance reviews.

Professional Experience & Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management or related discipline; equivalent inspection and quality experience may be accepted.
  • Typically 5+ years in CSA construction quality, inspection or engineering on major projects.
  • Experience with reinforced concrete, structural steel, building envelope and associated testing/records.
  • Data center, advanced technology or other mission-critical project experience preferred.
  • Relevant ICC, ACI, AWS/CWI, NICET or similar certification is desirable where aligned with assigned scope.

Specific Skills & Knowledge

  • Ability to interpret civil, structural and architectural drawings, specifications and approved submittals.
  • Knowledge of IBC and applicable ACI, ASTM, AWS, AISC and project-specific requirements.
  • Inspection planning, material traceability, test-report review and NCR documentation.
  • Digital field reporting and turnover-record management.
  • Clear communication with field supervision, designers and third-party inspectors.

Travel & Working Environment

The position is primarily site-based in Lisle, Illinois, with travel to fabricators, suppliers or testing locations as required. The role requires regular work in active construction and commissioning environments and the ability to safely access project areas, use required PPE and visually inspect installed work and test indications.
