Role Purpose

Implement quality assurance and quality control for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire-protection and controls installation on a major data center project. The role verifies compliance with approved design documents, submittals, codes, ITPs and manufacturer requirements, ensuring that construction-quality evidence supports safe system completion and commissioning readiness.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and implement MEP quality requirements, ITPs, checklists and discipline acceptance criteria.
• Perform and coordinate inspections, surveillance and testing for MEP installation and equipment setting.
• Verify approved materials, equipment traceability, test reports, calibration and construction completion records.
• Raise and manage deficiencies, NCRs and corrective actions through verified closure.
• Report MEP quality status and turnover readiness to the Project Quality Lead and coordinate prerequisites with Commissioning.
• Review MEP drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, coordination drawings and approved changes before inspection.
• Conduct pre-installation meetings, mock-up/benchmark inspections and first-work verification with subcontractors.
• Inspect equipment receiving and setting, piping, ductwork, supports, insulation, cleanliness, cabling, terminations, grounding, panels, instrumentation, controls and fire-protection installation as assigned.
• Witness pressure, leak, flushing, cleaning, megger, continuity, torque, grounding and other construction tests within approved ITPs.
• Verify welding/brazing procedures and qualifications, material certificates, calibration status, test boundaries and reinstatement records.
• Coordinate inspection coverage for concealed work and cross-discipline interfaces before close-in.
• Review construction completion records, redlines and test packs for completeness and linkage to systems/subsystems.
• Issue NCRs or deficiency reports, support technical disposition and verify repair, rework and retest evidence.
• Support quality-to-commissioning turnover, ensuring Level 1-2 records and prerequisites are complete before release.
• Participate in audits, quality walks, subcontractor reviews and recurring-defect prevention.

Professional Experience & Education

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Building Services or related Engineering discipline; equivalent inspection and quality experience may be accepted.
• Typically 5+ years in MEP construction quality, inspection, testing or engineering on complex facilities.
• Experience across at least one core MEP discipline plus strong understanding of multi-discipline interfaces.
• Data center or mission-critical project experience strongly preferred.
• Relevant AWS/CWI, ASNT, NICET, NETA, electrical, mechanical or plumbing inspection credentials are desirable as applicable.

Specific Skills & Knowledge

• Ability to interpret MEP drawings, P&IDs, one-lines, schematics, coordination models, specifications and submittals.
• Knowledge of inspection/test methods, installation tolerances and manufacturer requirements.
• Understanding of NFPA, NEC, mechanical/plumbing codes and applicable industry standards.
• NCR management, test-record review, traceability and digital turnover documentation.
• Ability to distinguish construction-quality acceptance from commissioning performance validation.

Travel & Working Environment

The position is primarily site-based in Lisle, Illinois, with travel to vendors or off-site testing locations as required. The role requires regular work in active construction and commissioning environments and the ability to safely access project areas, use required PPE and visually inspect installed work and test indications.
