Organizational Context & Job Purpose
A global chemical manufacturing company is seeking a Rotating Equipment Engineer to support facility-wide maintenance activities and improve equipment reliability, safety, and operational efficiency.
This role provides technical support across maintenance disciplines with a strong focus on rotating equipment reliability, quality maintenance execution, troubleshooting, and cost reduction initiatives. The position will also manage select capital projects within the maintenance organization.
The successful candidate will routinely utilize SAP and Microsoft Project in support of maintenance and project execution activities.
Responsibilities & Accountabilities
Safety & Environmental Stewardship
- Maintain safety as the highest priority and adhere to all site safety policies and procedures.
- Promote safe working practices and reinforce a strong safety culture.
- Communicate safety expectations with employees and contractors before and during job execution.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable safety and environmental regulations.
- Complete all required training and support ongoing SHE initiatives.
Work Duties
- Provide technical support and recommendations to improve overall equipment reliability.
- Optimize predictive and preventive maintenance strategies and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Monitor recurring equipment failures and develop corrective action plans to improve Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF).
- Support vibration monitoring and analysis programs.
- Provide mechanical engineering support to reduce maintenance costs and minimize unplanned downtime.
- Improve maintenance efficiency through precision maintenance practices.
- Assist supervisors in ensuring quality maintenance services and repairs.
- Manage safety relief valve inspections and recertification programs.
- Evaluate spare parts inventory for critical equipment.
- Support training and development of maintenance personnel.
- Plan and manage capital projects assigned to the maintenance department, including cost and schedule accountability.
- Assist with development of annual maintenance and turnaround budgets.
- Support planning and execution of major turnaround activities.
- Serve as backup for maintenance leadership when required.
Skills & Knowledge Required
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant industrial maintenance or reliability engineering experience.
- Strong technical aptitude with a results-oriented mindset and effective interpersonal skills.
- Experience with SAP or similar CMMS systems preferred.
Technical Skills
Proficiency with:
- Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Microsoft Project or similar scheduling software
- SAP or comparable maintenance management systems
Experience with industrial systems such as:
- Distributed Control Systems (DCS)
- PI Historian or similar data systems
- Document management and training systems
Additional qualifications:
- Strong mechanical background in an industrial manufacturing environment
- Understanding of safety, maintenance, and operations management systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and equipment documentation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills
Physical Requirements
- Medium work requiring exertion of up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Work may occur both indoors and outdoors.
- Exposure to varying environmental conditions including:
- Extreme temperatures
- High noise environments
- Vibration
- Mechanical and electrical hazards
- Chemicals, fumes, dust, and poor ventilation
- Oils and industrial fluids
