Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Expert Planning & Scheduling professional to join a leading engineering, procurement, and construction organization delivering some of the largest and most complex projects in North America.

This position will play a critical role in the successful planning, scheduling, monitoring, and reporting of multi-million and billion-dollar capital projects across advanced technology, semiconductor, data center, and life sciences sectors. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining integrated project schedules, driving schedule performance, identifying risks and opportunities, and providing strategic planning leadership to project teams and clients.

This is a highly visible role requiring strong stakeholder management skills, extensive Primavera P6 expertise, and a deep understanding of construction, engineering, procurement, commissioning, and project controls processes.

Key Responsibilities

Planning & Scheduling Leadership

  • Lead project planning and scheduling activities across all phases of project delivery, including engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover.
  • Develop, maintain, and manage detailed Level 3 and Level 4 project schedules.
  • Establish schedule baselines and monitor performance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure schedule alignment with project objectives, contractual requirements, and stakeholder expectations.
  • Coordinate schedule interfaces between engineering teams, contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and client representatives.

Schedule Development & Control

  • Develop integrated project schedules using Primavera P6.
  • Create and maintain engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup schedules.
  • Prepare project execution schedules, recovery plans, and acceleration strategies where required.
  • Develop detailed sequencing plans and execution methodologies to support successful project delivery.
  • Monitor actual progress against baseline schedules and identify variances and trends.

Critical Path Analysis

  • Perform Critical Path Method (CPM) schedule development and analysis.
  • Identify schedule drivers, constraints, and dependencies.
  • Conduct schedule health checks and ensure compliance with project controls standards.
  • Evaluate schedule impacts and recommend mitigation strategies to maintain project objectives.

Earned Value Management (EVM)

  • Implement and manage Earned Value Management systems and reporting.
  • Monitor schedule performance indicators and productivity metrics.
  • Develop schedule forecasting models and performance trend analysis.
  • Provide accurate project forecasts and completion projections.

Risk Management & Recovery Planning

  • Identify potential schedule risks, delays, and execution challenges.
  • Prepare Early Warning Notices (EWN) and Time Impact Analyses (TIA).
  • Develop mitigation and recovery strategies in collaboration with project leadership teams.
  • Support change management processes and schedule impact assessments.

Progress Monitoring & Reporting

  • Collect, validate, and analyze project progress data.
  • Produce weekly and monthly schedule reports for project leadership and clients.
  • Present schedule performance, critical milestones, risk assessments, and recovery actions.
  • Support executive-level reporting and project review meetings.

Stakeholder Management

  • Facilitate lookahead planning meetings with contractors and subcontractors.
  • Drive accountability across project teams and ensure commitment to key milestones.
  • Interface with project managers, construction managers, engineering leads, procurement teams, and client stakeholders.
  • Support collaborative planning and alignment across all project disciplines.

Continuous Improvement

  • Promote planning and scheduling best practices across project teams.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures and project controls standards.
  • Introduce innovative planning methodologies, reporting tools, and process improvements where appropriate.
  • Support the development and mentoring of junior planners and schedulers.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Controls, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 10+ years of planning and scheduling experience on large capital projects.
  • Extensive experience supporting engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC/EPCM) projects.
  • Advanced proficiency with Primavera P6.
  • Strong knowledge of Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling.
  • Experience implementing and managing Earned Value Management (EVM) systems.
  • Demonstrated experience performing schedule risk analysis and Time Impact Analysis (TIA).
  • Strong understanding of engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup processes.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work within complex, fast-paced project environments.
