About the Opportunity

An established industrial manufacturer is looking to add a Supply Chain Specialist to its growing operations team. This is a highly visible role that will support the planning and execution of end-to-end supply chain activities across procurement, production planning, inventory management and logistics.

Working closely with Operations, Procurement, Quality and Finance, you'll play a key role in ensuring materials are available when needed, production schedules are achieved, customers receive products on time and the business continues to operate as efficiently as possible.

This position would suit someone who enjoys solving complex operational challenges, working with data and driving continuous improvement within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

Supply Chain Planning

  • Support the planning and coordination of end-to-end supply chain activities.
  • Ensure raw materials and finished goods are available to meet production and customer demand.
  • Balance inventory levels while maintaining service performance and controlling working capital.
  • Identify and mitigate potential supply chain risks before they impact operations.

Production Scheduling

  • Assist with creating and maintaining production schedules across manufacturing operations.
  • Work closely with Operations, Quality and Maintenance teams to ensure schedules remain achievable.
  • Monitor schedule adherence and identify opportunities to improve throughput and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Support changes to production plans based on customer demand and operational priorities.

Logistics & Distribution

  • Coordinate domestic and international shipments across road, ocean and air freight.
  • Ensure import/export activities comply with relevant regulations.
  • Monitor freight performance, warehouse activity and delivery metrics.
  • Investigate shipment delays and implement corrective actions to improve customer service.

Inventory & Materials Management

  • Manage raw material, work-in-progress and finished goods inventory.
  • Develop safety stock strategies and reorder points for critical materials.
  • Monitor inventory trends, consumption rates and shelf-life requirements.
  • Minimise stock shortages while reducing excess inventory and waste.

Supplier & Procurement Support

  • Analyse supplier performance, including delivery, quality and lead time metrics.
  • Support sourcing decisions through data analysis and forecasting.
  • Work with Procurement to manage long-lead materials and reduce supply risks.
  • Assist with supplier performance improvement and cost reduction initiatives.

Data & Reporting

  • Produce reports and dashboards covering inventory, production, logistics and procurement performance.
  • Analyse ERP data to identify trends and support operational decision making.
  • Present recommendations that improve efficiency, service levels and overall supply chain performance.

Continuous Improvement

  • Support Lean and Continuous Improvement initiatives across the business.
  • Improve ERP/MRP processes and reporting capabilities.
  • Work cross-functionally to streamline processes and eliminate operational inefficiencies.
  • Drive improvements that reduce costs while improving customer service.

What We're Looking For

Essential Experience

  • 3+ years' experience in Supply Chain, Production Planning or Operations Planning within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards or similar.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience using data to drive operational decisions.
  • Experience managing inventory, production planning or logistics activities.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across multiple departments.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business or a related discipline.
  • APICS or CSCP certification.
  • Experience within chemical manufacturing, industrial manufacturing or another regulated production environment.
  • Knowledge of forecasting techniques and inventory optimisation.
  • Experience with Power BI or similar reporting platforms.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel.
  • ERP/MRP systems.
  • Power BI (or similar BI software).
  • Strong data analysis and reporting capability.
