Contract Role: Site Construction Cost Engineer
Location: Lillo, Belgium (site-based)
Duration: 12 months + extension (project runs until end of 2026)

Overview
We are seeking an experienced Site Construction Cost Engineer to join a major greenfield petrochemical project in Belgium. You will be part of the project controls team, supporting the delivery of one of the largest construction projects in Europe. This role focuses on managing and controlling construction costs across multiple packages, ensuring transparency, accuracy, and alignment with project objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and monitor construction costs (civil, mechanical, electrical, etc.) across assigned packages.
  • Maintain cost baselines and ensure accurate forecasting, cash flow reporting, and change control.
  • Prepare monthly and interim cost reports for project delivery teams.
  • Coordinate and oversee cost management activities performed by EPCM contractors.
  • Ensure all incurred costs are captured, posted, and forecasted correctly.
  • Perform cost risk analysis and incorporate into forecasts.
  • Provide cost impact assessments for proposed changes.
  • Support project audits and reporting requirements for external financing institutions.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, project controls, contracts/commercial teams, EPCs, and subcontractors to achieve accurate and transparent reporting.

Candidate Profile

  • Degree in a technical discipline (preferred) or equivalent industry experience.
  • 15+ years in process industry, engineering, or construction, including large capital projects ($100MM+).
  • Experience on mega-projects ($1BN+) is strongly preferred.
  • Strong background in project controls and construction cost management.
  • Familiarity with chemical plants, engineering, and quantity surveying.
  • Proficient with cost management tools (EcoSys, SAP PS, or similar).
  • Strong financial acumen: cost accounting, forecasting, performance measurement, and change management.
  • Pragmatic, detail-oriented, and able to work independently in a fast-paced site environment.
  • Fluent in English; additional European languages are a plus.
