Purpose of the Job:

To drive the sustained growth of our organisation it is necessary to provide support to our manufacturing and sales teams of the best technical service regarding our existing products, and the development of new solutions for the market.

Although activated carbon remains the core activity of the company, complimentary business units involved in the design and sales of ion exchange, mobile filter and reactivation solutions are also a part of the business. Interaction with cross-selling strategies is an essential part of this position.

This position is a cross-functional role serving several business units. Primary regional responsibility will be the development of sales and service in the biogas market sector within France, but other opportunities for business within the same market sector will exist globally. Reporting lines will be to the Product Support Team (PST) and the Mobile Filter Unit (MFU) Team.


Job Roles / Duties:

To provide the designated sales team with technical and product support on a daily basis. This includes, but is not limited to:

1) Assessment of client requirements and the translation of these into the definition of appropriate product/service characteristics. These include definition of performance criteria; defining, validation and evaluation of any testing requirements; evolution of product/service offering, supply feasibility and satisfaction of market requirements;


2) Finalise and define product specifications, equipment lists, Standard Operating Procedures, and Quality Plans;

3) Assessment of the suitability of activated carbon for the designated applications;

4) Provision of technical support in applications including calculation of life expectancy, hydraulic and pneumatic characteristics, efficiency of use, trouble-shooting and augmentation of use;

5) Manage local records and reference lists and contribute to global reference listings;

6) Accompany sales personnel on visits to clients of assessed importance to facilitate the successful sales process;

7) Extend the in-house knowledge in application engineering, resource libraries, knowledge of competitive products and competitor activities;

8) Give field service support to clients in the implementation of the agreed purification solution, including practical assistance on site to install and commission equipment as required;

9) Provide support and guidance to local and global manufacturing facilities in process control, market requirements within the framework of product/service offering.

10) To be aware, identify and report present occupational hazards, unsafe acts and unsafe conditions that may pose a risk to everyone working in the vicinity.

11) To ensure the operational process does not hinder the conservative measures of environmental protection.

12) Ability to work as a team with excellent communication skills to interact effectively with the team members


Service Level Expectation:

As a member of the PST and Service teams it is expected that a rapid response to enquiries is achieved. Our service level target is to provide some form of response within 24 hours of the receipt of enquiry, where this is practical.


Education:

1. University degree (minimum Bachelor level) or comparable training in a technical discipline, e.g. Chemical Engineering;

2. Versed in the use of MS Office applications;


3. Experience or qualification in practical duties such as plumbing, electrical installation or process plant integration;

4. Good knowledge of written and spoken English;

5. Fluent in written and spoken French at a technical level;

6. There will be additional trainings provided to the candidate and those trainings are as follows,

a) Introduction to main product ranges and grades;

b) Indepth knowledge of company Service offerings relating to MFU, ancillary equipment, and media handling operations;

c) Development of knowledge relating to manufacturing and buy-to-sell products;

d) Building upon existing know-how in the areas of manufacturing, quality control, certification and product performance testing;

e) Product strategy tuition and alignment with current Strategic Market Mapping (SMM) activity;

f) Competitor analysis and counter-type training;

g) 80/20 market overview of non-specialist applications;

h) Other Required Training


Experience:

A preferred, but not essential, 1 year's professional experience in the same or similar business.


Travel Requirements:

Travel will be expected to be regularly on a national and international level depending on the deployment of the Application Support Engineer (Biogas Specialist). Occasional long-haul travel will be expected to attend group meetings, either technical or commercial according to the incumbent's skill set.


Other Employment Conditions:

a) Employment is a full-time, permanent position agreed by binding contract after an initial 6 month provisional assessment.

b) Normal location of work will be based at a local office where feasible, however, the company operates all main ERM systems in the cloud and homeworking is encouraged where possible. Location within or close to the territory of France is preferred.


c) Salary is according to Group pay scales, with augmentation possible for candidates with specific application knowledge, experience, qualification and expertise. As this is a full- time position it benefits from all local provision available of additions to standard contract terms, such as pension contributions and insurances.

d) Performance is assessed on an annual basis and salary progression awarded against agreed targets. Additional discretionary payments for additional performance achievements and exceptional execution of duties is available at this assessment.

e) A standard annual bonus for completion of duties up to a maximum of 10% gross salary level is available for this level of employment status.

f) All out of pocket expenses are paid in full monthly by the company on receipt of a correctly completed and fully receipted expense report approved by your line manager.
